Introducing a New Business Model
for Cancer Drug Development
Hi: I’m Cody Gibbons, one of the directors at CanceRx. As a team, we have been leaders in cancer research funding for decades. It is safe to say, the billions of dollars we have helped direct to cancer research have made a big difference in many lives.
Along the way, we have also seen where the current system can be improved. One big opportunity is improving the transition of basic research into clinical development.
This is a big funding gap. It is also investment opportunity. And if, like us, you have been touched by cancer, you may share our view that this is a way to save more lives.
Bottom Line
Our vision is to change how new drugs transition from government-funded basic science to privately funded clinical trials.
We are soliciting short-term private equity placements to scale up an operating company and contract research organization (CRO).
This enterprise is finding highly promising cancer treatments for placement into clinical trials.
The clinical trials will be financed by long-term bonds – mainly from sovereign wealth funds. This approach has significant advantages over traditional private equity or shareholder funded R&D.
Around 20,000 promising cures lack development funding. We will license great ideas from this pool. If they are successful in trials we will sell them to big pharma. Revenues will be based on royalties and shared appropriately.
The science of cancer research is brilliant. It’s the financing of commercial development that comes up short. This is due to the high costs to find successful new drugs. Have a look at how Dr. Andrew Lo, a leading economist at MIT, and his Nobel Prize-winning colleagues would change the paradigm of funding clinical trials.
The CanceRx CRO will shed many costs in typical CROs. Our CRO will have zero marketing and selling costs to solicit for new trials. In addition, our CRO professionals have used their lifetime experiences to cut red tape and make it easier for cancer centers to offer trials.
