The Cancer Toll

Cancer in all its varying types and disguises is one of the great challenges in medicine. The toll is staggering: Cancer is the second-most common cause of death in the United States, after heart disease, with nearly 2 million new cases and 610,000 deaths expected in 2022 alone.

Cancer claims nearly 1,700 deaths each day in the United States. One in two men and one in three women will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime.

Winning the War on Cancer

When America declared war on cancer more than 50 years ago with the National Cancer Act, it ignited an explosion of research dedicated to understanding, curing and preventing cancers that were cutting short millions of lives.

Hopes ran high but the challenges were greater, and today, new strategies by leading health organizations – and now with the introduction of the CanceRx Foundation, Inc. – are tackling the myriad diseases that make up cancer with a financial approach to winning this costly and extended war.

CanceRx focuses on the ammunition needed to fight the battle by bridging the monetary gaps facing the cancer industry with a diversified portfolio of promising cancer therapeutics, diagnostics, and novel treatment delivery technologies.

The CanceRx philosophy – By bundling a number of therapies together and financing them through obligation bonds, CanceRx provides a long-term financial platform – and potential solution – for the enormous economic burden of getting cancer drugs from bench to bedside.
