Thomas P. Loughran, Jr., M.D. is the University of Virginia Comprehensive Cancer Center's director and serves as CanceRx SAB's Chairman. Dr. Loughran is widely recognized as a global leader in cancer hematologic malignancies, bone marrow disorders, and leukemia. A physician-scientist, Dr. Loughran earned his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College at Drexel University, Philadelphia. He completed his fellowship in medical oncology at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, where he discovered LGL leukemia. He is the director of UVA's Large Granular Lymphocyte (LGL) Leukemia Program. Prior to becoming the UVA Cancer Center director, Dr. Loughran served as the LGL leukemia program leader at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute at the University of South Florida and was the founding director of the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute.
Biography
